One door closed, is another door opened....

As many of you know, I quit my job. I have worked at the casino for exactly four years to the day I left. I made a place for myself there....I worked very hard at proving my ability and it went a long way. I worked my way very far up on the food chain, and I was comfortable with that. Although there were some set backs, the main one being that I felt that my co-workers and managers took advantage of my hard work and knew that they could give me any task and I would complete it without complaint....also meaning I did a lot more work then I was paid for or recognized for.

In December I was offered a position at a slot machine manufacturer's. It would be much like the job I already had, but more pay and a lot more room for advancement and opportunity. But, along with this new job, I would have to start at the bottom of the food chain again and prove myself all over again.

After a long and well thought out decision, I decided to take this new job. Friday was my last day at the casino and it was very bitter sweet. I am going to miss most of my coworkers very much, but I am excited to meet the new ones.

Yesterday, was the first day on the job, and what a crazy one it was. I walked in and was introduced to many people in the office, and then basically left to figure things out on my own. The guy who hired me had meetings all day, so he left someone else in charge....little did I know this guy was my new boss. So, I sat around all day and filled out paperwork and did my best to keep busy and not scream at the top of my lungs "WILL SOMEONE COME TELL ME WHAT I'M SUPPOSE TO BE DOING!". I was so lost, I HATE not having direction because I like to be productive.

Well, then I was taken out to lunch, thanks guys, and we had a nice chat. After lunch I was much more at ease. I found out that I had made the right decision to take this job. They are very laid back and feel that as long as I accomplish my tasks, they don't really care how or when I get them done. So, they send me home for the rest of the day....and today....and tomorrow. They told me it would be pointless to drive an hour to an office to sit at a desk and complete paperwork I could be doing at home in my PJs. SWEET! And I still get paid a full 8 hours. =]

So far, so good. I think this new job is going to hold a bright future for me. I already see many opportunities to grow personally and within the company. I will keep everyone updated, but for now....I'm off to complete that stack of paperwork.

oohh...but real quick. Here is a bunch of flowers I was given on my last day. Aren't they pretty?

Anyone love Ikea and stunt bikes??

I DO!!

This Saturday was BEAUTIFUL! So, a bunch of friends and I met up and rode all day and ended up at this stunt show in Auburn. Ok....mothers who don't like motorcycles should fast forward, but if you do choose to stick around, I promise I will NEVER do this kind of thing. I like my motorcycle all in one piece. =]

The pictures might not say much for the event, a video would better describe what I saw, but these will have to do.

And then off to Ikea on Sunday. I LOVE going to Ikea, it's very inspirational. So I fell in love with a 9"x9" shadow box picture frame I found and I thought it would be perfect to display a few good layouts or pictures and collage them on my bedroom walls. When I finally found the place to buy the frames, I saw this...

....cool huh? I don't know if I would ever have the decor in my house to need something like this, but I liked it enough to take a picture.
Then as we traveled through the store some more....I found some Asian plants and I had to take them home.

I'm very happy with them. =] And the best part....is that they are hard to kill.

Just a quickie....

Life has been crazy around my household lately, but I did get a chance to play with my scrap goodies, so I wanted to post the layout I finished.

I used our March kit (yeah....I know I am a little behind) and the new paint dabbers by Adirondack. SOOO much fun!!

and then I was given this lovely surprise on Friday. Everyone in the house has enjoyed the lilly scent all week. Such a pretty arrangement!
