One door closed, is another door opened....

As many of you know, I quit my job. I have worked at the casino for exactly four years to the day I left. I made a place for myself there....I worked very hard at proving my ability and it went a long way. I worked my way very far up on the food chain, and I was comfortable with that. Although there were some set backs, the main one being that I felt that my co-workers and managers took advantage of my hard work and knew that they could give me any task and I would complete it without complaint....also meaning I did a lot more work then I was paid for or recognized for.

In December I was offered a position at a slot machine manufacturer's. It would be much like the job I already had, but more pay and a lot more room for advancement and opportunity. But, along with this new job, I would have to start at the bottom of the food chain again and prove myself all over again.

After a long and well thought out decision, I decided to take this new job. Friday was my last day at the casino and it was very bitter sweet. I am going to miss most of my coworkers very much, but I am excited to meet the new ones.

Yesterday, was the first day on the job, and what a crazy one it was. I walked in and was introduced to many people in the office, and then basically left to figure things out on my own. The guy who hired me had meetings all day, so he left someone else in charge....little did I know this guy was my new boss. So, I sat around all day and filled out paperwork and did my best to keep busy and not scream at the top of my lungs "WILL SOMEONE COME TELL ME WHAT I'M SUPPOSE TO BE DOING!". I was so lost, I HATE not having direction because I like to be productive.

Well, then I was taken out to lunch, thanks guys, and we had a nice chat. After lunch I was much more at ease. I found out that I had made the right decision to take this job. They are very laid back and feel that as long as I accomplish my tasks, they don't really care how or when I get them done. So, they send me home for the rest of the day....and today....and tomorrow. They told me it would be pointless to drive an hour to an office to sit at a desk and complete paperwork I could be doing at home in my PJs. SWEET! And I still get paid a full 8 hours. =]

So far, so good. I think this new job is going to hold a bright future for me. I already see many opportunities to grow personally and within the company. I will keep everyone updated, but for now....I'm off to complete that stack of paperwork.

oohh...but real quick. Here is a bunch of flowers I was given on my last day. Aren't they pretty?

Anyone love Ikea and stunt bikes??

I DO!!

This Saturday was BEAUTIFUL! So, a bunch of friends and I met up and rode all day and ended up at this stunt show in Auburn. Ok....mothers who don't like motorcycles should fast forward, but if you do choose to stick around, I promise I will NEVER do this kind of thing. I like my motorcycle all in one piece. =]

The pictures might not say much for the event, a video would better describe what I saw, but these will have to do.

And then off to Ikea on Sunday. I LOVE going to Ikea, it's very inspirational. So I fell in love with a 9"x9" shadow box picture frame I found and I thought it would be perfect to display a few good layouts or pictures and collage them on my bedroom walls. When I finally found the place to buy the frames, I saw this...

....cool huh? I don't know if I would ever have the decor in my house to need something like this, but I liked it enough to take a picture.
Then as we traveled through the store some more....I found some Asian plants and I had to take them home.

I'm very happy with them. =] And the best part....is that they are hard to kill.

Just a quickie....

Life has been crazy around my household lately, but I did get a chance to play with my scrap goodies, so I wanted to post the layout I finished.

I used our March kit (yeah....I know I am a little behind) and the new paint dabbers by Adirondack. SOOO much fun!!

and then I was given this lovely surprise on Friday. Everyone in the house has enjoyed the lilly scent all week. Such a pretty arrangement!

sorry it's been so long...

Alright ladies, I know it's been forever since I blogged and I'm sorry. I will try and keep this thing more updated.

I haven't had much time to scrap with my crazy life right now, but I wanted to take a second and post a couple things I've completed lately.

Photobucket

Here is my first canvas art. I learned many things while doing this....print your photos professionally! or at least on a paper that has some sort of seal to it. When working with canvas, in order to get the items to stick really well, glue is necessary. Next time I will print my photos better so I can modge podge over the entire cavas....pictures and all.

Here's one of my latest layouts......yes believe it or not.....sometimes I actually scrapbook! Fact is, I love to! I just don't have the time or energy to. But, that will all be changing soon. I'm so tired of making these kits I love but never making time to play with them myself!

Ok, that's it for now....hopefully more soon! oh, and sorry for the quality of the photos....I was in a hurry and since it was 10pm....I was out of daylight!

What a weekend!

wweeww...it's over! It's been quite a weekend. It rained all weekend, which I actually enjoyed. I was able to bundle up which I love doing. =] I was quite productive. Went shopping with coupons to JoAnn's and Michael's that I was really excited to use, but wasn't able too.....stupid coupon rules! But, I bought a couple little things I'm excited about. One in particular...I'll get a picture up as soon as I get the project going.

I think I found somewhere to move! woohoo. I'm crossing my fingers in hopes that everything works out ok!!

Other than that....just working on the business. It's a lot of work, but we're moving in the right directions.

Talk to you all soon. =] 23 days until I turn 23......woo hoo!

finally.....

First off.....here it is. tada! I finally made a blog outside of myspace. I think it should be fun. I love playing with HTML.

Unto life...I can sum up my last few days in one simple word: stressful! Work has been outrageous thanks to only having half of the staff I should have. I'm still having problems with the "demon car". Today it is at the shop getting the air conditioning fixed, finally! Keep in mind that it needed to be fix in June and the shop wouldn't do it for the longest time and now it's October and I have absolutely no need for air conditioning! So, I'm borrowing my room mates truck for the day....can you say nightmare! In the middle of driving, the car decides to stop running....nice huh? And then tonight I have to pick my car up from the shop and take it home to have my boyfriend replace the brakes, which was also very expensive. $260 for brake pads and $60 for the router! urrgg. I hate car repairs.

On a good note....our business. Last week was very stressful as well because we had to pick our design team. We had over 60 applicants and could only choose 5. It was a really hard decision and I really wish we could have choose them all, but I'm very pleased with the ladies we choose. They seem to be exactly what we wished for. Now, if only the card stock would come in so I could ship the kits off. =]

Tonight I do get to scrapbook! While Broc works on the brakes, I've set time aside for myself to finish my Halloween challenge....woo hoo.
